EAST ASIAN MEDICINE PRACTITIONER (EAMP)
DIPLOMATE OF ACUPUNCTURE
A Diplomate of Acupuncture is an acupuncturist who is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM®). It is a considerable professional achievement to earn the designation Diplomate of Acupuncture (NCCAOM). NCCAOM certification indicates to employers, patients, and peers that one has met national standards for the safe and competent practice of acupuncture as defined by the acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) profession. For additional information about the Diplomate of Acupuncture, please visit the NCCAOM Website.
I am registered as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist with the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA), certificate #10744. I am trained in techniques that detoxify the organs of the body and help calm cravings, which I have used extensively in a drug-treatment setting at a methadone clinic, but which are helpful for other goals as well, such as quitting smoking. These techniques principally involve auriculotherapy, which is the insertion of small needles into the external ear; for more information, please look here.
